St. Andrews Country Club is proud to share that their Director of Golf, Paul Clivio, has received the Bill Strasbough Award from the PGA South Florida Section. This exclusive award is symbolic of Clivio’s years of work for the PGA South Florida Section, specifically the work he performed in aiding other PGA Professionals by helping them expand their employment opportunities and through performing services for the community. “I have had great students to work with and it is so important to give them the opportunity to learn all aspects of the operation,” he explained in an interview. “You become in part a teacher and you give your students all the tools it takes to succeed.”
Throughout his tenure, Clivio has served as Secretary and Vice President for the PGA South Florida Section, stood as the voice and voting representative for the group, and hosted educational meetings for the chapter. As president of the organization for the 2018-2019 year, he has had the opportunity to guide the group with knowledge and experience, as well as learn from the members as well. “Being a part of the Board over the last five and a half years has been one of the biggest rewards as a PGA Professional,” he said. “I am able to connect and help more professionals achieve their goals while trying to put the SE Chapter in the best position possible.” His recognitions go even further than that. The year 2017 saw him named the Callaway Golf Professional of the Year, and he received the “Ace in the Hole” Award from America’s Healthiest Clubs in 2018.
Clivio’s hard work and passion for golf has shown through the efforts he puts into his tasks as the Director of Golf at St. Andrews Country Club. It’s through his tasks that the Club’s two golf courses are recognized as some of the best in the area, that PGA Professionals host multiple successful golf clinics for the members of the Club, and that St. Andrews Country Club is seen as the heart of golf that it is.
